The weeb in charge of other weebs!

One day while playing League of Legends, the following exchange occurred with a friend of a friend on Skype:

The guy, who we shall call R, made a big deal about my voice. (I’m a girl, and I guess they’ve not played with many on League? :/ It’s not uncommon to see female gamers, mind you.) Anyways, they continued to say how cute my voice was and would ask me to say things. I didn’t mind, and somewhat liked the attention. Later, R told me he ran an anime club and wanted me to do some voice acting for their reviews and announcements. I shrugged and said I would, after all, I hadn’t been in an anime group since my high school days.

So, I joined ‘Freelance Anime’. It was relatively small, and inactive. They did reviews, but they were all done by R with a fake accent, and…well, were just plain awful. I’m guessing he didn’t spell check ANYTHING, because there were constant errors. And by constant errors, I mean just about EVERY word.

By this time, R wanted to associate a ‘character’ to my voice. I obliged. What’s the worst he could make for me? Now, first off, R in real life is a skinny black kid. R’s character online is a girly-looking white, blonde haired guy. Yeah… So, he creates my character, which gets named Lutey after my League name. Now, R creates these ‘mascots’ for his club by using a HENTAI game in which you can dress and pose girls. Ick. Lutey turned out to be everything I DIDN’T want: She had cat ears, and wings, a short skirt, and basically over all looked really REALLY weeaboo, even for a character. Double ick. But I let it slide, and began voicing reviews and announcements for them as ‘Lutey’. That is, until several things spiraled beyond my reach and made me quit the group. Let’s start with the first, shall we? (don’t worry, I won’t include them all)

R claimed he wanted Freelance Anime to one day become a legit business that sells anime merchandise and such. I said it would be a lot of work, and his ‘mascots’ would eventually become a problem.

“Why’s that?”

“Well, your mascot ‘Fay’ is an exact copy of a character from a popular hentai. You even used their images.”

“I’ll have you know I had someone work really hard on our image.” (this image is plastered all over everything, as a background, an icon, a banner, ETC. JUST ONE IMAGE)

“Uh…well, it’s just the character from the hentai with a recolored shirt”

“She’s our mascot and I’m not getting rid of her”

At this point I sigh and explain that I didn’t say to get rid of his mascot, but simply change it so there isn’t copyright infringement if he ever became a legit business. Needless to say, R became very angry with me.

Did I mention that the ‘mascots’ all had their own FB accounts? And that R would post as them? It was….well…awkward, and made me ashamed to associate with him and the group.

Now, THIS is what made me begin to doubt R with everything. I can handle a weeaboo, but when you lie to me, especially about big things, I feel like I can no longer associate with you. Here’s what he did:

It started off innocently enough. We were talking about voice actors. I told him about my favorite, Chris Patton, and how I constantly check con rosters to see if I can ever meet him to snag an autograph. He then said he could totally get in contact with him. I am now very skeptical. “How’s that,” I ask. He replies that Mr. Patton did work on DNAngel and that HE, R, helped in the storyboard. Now, I’m no huge DNAngel fan, but I’ve read some of the books, and I did watch the anime. At this point I smell a lie. “You worked on it? What?”

“Yeah, the episode Ice and Snow. I wrote a fanfic about it and Tokyopop called me and wanted to make it into an episode.”

Now, I know this can’t be true. Not only would Tokyopop not be in charge of storyboarding for DNangel, but they would never ask a fanfic writer (and a terrible one at that) to help them. Besides, all the characters and the story already existed prior to his awful writings. So, being the nice person I am, I didn’t call out his lie just yet, but instead, went in search of the truth. I looked through the credits for DNangel and found nothing attributed to him. Anywhere. I also looked for rumors that a fanfic writer had helped. There were none. THEN I FOUND THIS:

http://www.gaiaonline.com/forum/comic-creators/hark-true-fans-of-the-dnangel-ice-and-snow-arch-i-need-you/t.59806945_1/

For those of you who don’t want to click on it, basically, it’s a post on Gaia online, from R, that says he needs help because his ‘deadline’ is coming up soon for Tokyopop’s DNangel script for Ice and Snow. He then adds on a horribly written excerpt. I recommend reading the comments, however. Those are the funny ones.

Anyways, now knowing he’s just a big phony, how could I possibly continue to lend my voice to his corrupted group? I left shortly after sending R a long letter on how he’s a liar, and that claiming those things is a huge no-no. Since then, I’ve kept in touch with a few members who say he’s just as bad as he ever was. Some people don’t change.

Humorously enough, I started my own anime group shortly after in pure spite. I may not have the amount of members he currently has, but I’m sure I will grow far beyond that lying jerk. I want to make a group that my members don’t have to feel ASHAMED to be in. (You all who share and read these weeaboo stories are MORE THAN WELCOME to join me!)
